The event marked a historic milestone for the BSIT community of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sto. Tomas Campus, as it was the first official gathering under the new name.

Earlier in 2017, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) required student organizations in satellite campuses to stop using the term “college,” since each campus is already considered a college under the main campus. In response, the 2017 officers restructured the then-College of Computer and Information Sciences (CCIS) organization into what is now recognized as the Computer Society.

The former CCIS was based on the student organization of the same name in PUP Sta. Mesa (Main Campus). Today, ComSoc proudly stands as the official academic organization for students and alumni of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program at PUP Sto. Tomas.
